Add Facial Expresions to LEGO® Figures

Enhance your LEGO® figures by adding mouth and eye shapes to convey facial expressions or speech. Rather than relying solely on swapping heads, Stop Motion Studio enables you to adjust eye and mouth shapes dynamically. Ensure you capture the character with a blank face initially, just turn the figures head so that mouth and eyes disappear behind the hair. Once all images are captured, you can easily incorporate various facial expressions using the image editor.

  1. While in the movie editor, choose the frame with the LEGO® figure and access the frame edit menu.
  2. Opt for Edit to make modifications to the image.
  3. Press the Add Layer button to open the layer menu.
  4. From the add layer menu, select Face to add a new face layer.
  5. If not shown, tap or click the face to see the layer handles, indicated by blue rounded markers. Drag the center to reposition the face image.
  6. Adjust the size of the face image by dragging the handles. On Android, utilize a pinch or pan gesture for resizing.
  7. Choose Edit to access further customization options.
  8. Choose the mouth or eye symbol to select a mouth or eye shape that fits best to the characters feelings you want to express.
  9. Since your character probably does not always look straight into the camera, you can use the rotate tool to adjust the rotation of the face. Select Rotate to rotate the face around its axis.
